Diving in the Galapagos Islands

Scuba diving in the Galápagos Islands is considered some of the best in the world, offering thrilling encounters with large marine life in a remote and protected environment. The islands are located at the convergence of major ocean currents, creating rich waters teeming with biodiversity.

What Makes Galápagos Diving Unique

  • Big Animal Encounters: Expect to see schools of hammerhead sharks, whale sharks (in season), manta rays, Galápagos sharks, eagle rays, and sea lions.

  • Endemic Species: Dive with marine iguanas, Galápagos sea lions, and Galápagos penguins, found nowhere else on Earth.

  • Strong Currents & Drift Dives: Many dive sites feature challenging conditions, making them best for advanced divers.

  • Pristine Reefs & Volcanic Formations: Underwater lava flows, arches, and caves create dramatic landscapes.

Top Dive Sites

  • Darwin Island (only accessible by liveaboard): Famous for massive schools of scalloped hammerhead sharks and whale sharks (June–Nov).

  • Wolf Island: Known for shark action, including silky and Galápagos sharks, and dense fish life.

  • Cabo Marshall: Great for manta rays, turtles, and reef fish.

  • Punta Vicente Roca (Isabela Island): Cold-water diving with mola molas, penguins, and sea horses.
